Good acting among these four leads keep the story interesting. Everyone in this movie lacks morality and credibility.

A seeming combination of stress and lack of character yields bad behavior. Eventually, Russell has the dignity to quit, knowing that many lives are affected by the silly macho game that he and Nick play. This is done slightly tongue in cheek, but it is true. When Nick rejects that advice and wants another solution, Russell gives him one, but tells him that jumping in the stream would have been much easier.

Perhaps a documentary feature would have served it better without getting into a poorly written love struggle about adultery. These characters and their world are interesting enough, however.

That is, until Russell Bell, a new transfer with a reputation for recklessness but a record of pure perfection shatters the tensely-held status quo.

The game of one-upmanship between the two flies so high as to lead Nick into Russell's bed with his wife. His sanity slipping just as fast as his hold on 1, Cusack's controller is thrown out-of-control when Thornton's wanderer quietly leaves town. Nick must now find a way to regain his sanity and repair his marriage before he breaks down completely.

The acting of John and Billy Bob together is great, their rivalry throughout the movie is entertaining. The supporting cast of Blanchett, Jolie and a few others also adds quality to the movie. The movie is amusing and the scenes that take place within the air traffic control tower are interesting.

There are also numerous plane shots in the movie, probably done with computer generated images but they were done very well. Pushing Tin also has a positive conclusion, and I love upbeat endings.
